The image needs a tone-
The images you choose to blend in with the other visuals of the video should be so effortlessly smooth in its presence that it looks like a part of the footage without distinction. The flow of the image should be set on the basis of the tone of the video in its entirety. Video Editors working for production houses should first set a tone to the image (like sepia) that corresponds with the mood and feel of the rest of the video. The feel of the video should be told by the kind of tone it is given. The tone also should be worked upon in tandem with the exposure and the contrast set for the video.
Resolve color grading of the footage-
Although most of the images available as stock images are color corrected. In video particularly, color correction is an important element to represent hues properly, making them look more natural. There is an array of softwares that help in color grading and correction of the footage according to the tones set for the video.
Blend the Sharpness with the rest of the footage-
Not all the footage of the video are of the same sharpness. Stock images are generally more sharp and defined as compared to the video footages. Since short films and videos have a different tempo than the photographs along with the difference in the use of cameras, it becomes imperative to have their focus either softened or lessened to match with the focus of the rest of the video.
Color them all together-
Apart from color correction color matching the stock image or stock footage are also necessary. Having any change in the chrome of the color clearly has it distinguished that they are not a part of the unit. Using RGB monochrome technique is most prescribed to keep the ingenuity alive.
Graining and saturation to be synchronized-
While attempting to match two shots together color saturation and grading are two very important things to be kept in mind. Saturation will take care of how vibrant the colors look, and adjustments be made around the tone set. Color grading will take care of the stylizing of the footage, giving both the stock image and the rest of the video a color property that will make them look similar and hardly any differentiated.
With these desirable little changes, you can make your video and stock images more established and defined in their look, feel and objective and you would save yourself the embarrassment of having two distinctly different imageries that will only bring the value of your hard work down.
